The NeST-RC Aviation Club meeting was held at 10 AM September 9, 2023.

Twenty people attended, including the two newest members, Steve and Nathan Haston, and two prospective members. Steve works for the AMA.

The meeting was called to order by Charles Cantrell, club treasurer, after explaining that Jerry Dunn president and John Holcombe, were not able to attend.

Cantrell asked each person attending to introduce themselves, since there were several new members at the meeting.

Next order of business was the thank James Miller for the work he had done on building the new storage shed, which houses the riding mower and other tools for grounds upkeep.

Next, James Miller, club secretary reported that the current membership count was 68 people, the largest count we have ever had. With the two prospective members, who were in attendance at the meeting, the club membership count will go to 70 members.

We also discussed that we would begin sending and email to the membership after the meeting with club meeting minutes. (John Holcombe has agreed to do this in the future, per discussions with Jerry Dunn on Sunday.)

Charles Cantrell gave the club treasurer’s report. The club currently has just over $4000 in the bank account. He also reported that there had been something of a mixup with the club bank account that caused a check to James Miller to be declined. However, that mixup has been corrected. Jame’s check for materials to build the storage shed has been replaced by a Zelle transfer, and the club bank account is now satisfied with all funds correctly allocated.

Pat Dunlop gave the education report and the club safety report. He reported that he is working with about 6 new pilots and that they are progressing well. There were no safety incidents to report.

He also reminded attendees about the yellow line markings on the runway, their meanings, and reminded everyone they must keep their planes flying to the north side of those lines. Also, he pointed out the correct taxi lanes in the pilot areas of the field.

The site improvement report covered three items: a security light, slit seeder for the final seeding, and caution signs for the entrance to the pilot area.

The club voted not to spend money for the security light. Instead they recommended a study to install infrared camera(s) on the property. Part of the concern was that lights don’t really deter criminals, and the light might bother the neighbor over the road.

The club voted to rent the slit seeder and get the grass seed in the ground this fall, if at all possible. On the signage, Tedd indicated that he had already taken steps to produce the signs and that sign verbiage would be circulated for approval soon.

With no other business to deal with, Cantrell called for a motion to adjourn and the meeting was adjourned before 11 AM.

Respecfully submitted by Charles Cantrell, club treasurer.
